DreamArts Announces DAPA®2.0, the Latest Edition of Its Practical-AI Concept─ Evolving SmartDB® into an "AI-Ready Data Generation Platform" through Semantic DX ─
TOKYO — DreamArts Corporation (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Takaaki Yamamoto; Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market: 4811; hereinafter "DreamArts"), the provider of SmartDB®, a work-digitalization cloud for large enterprises, today announced DAPA®2.0, the latest edition of its proprietary concept for putting AI to practical use ("DAPA®" — DreamArts Practical AI®).
DAPA® (DreamArts Practical AI®) is DreamArts' foundational concept — its guiding philosophy — for putting AI to practical, hands-on, real-world use in business. Since the first edition announced in June 2025, it has served as a continually updated framework for one question: how to make AI genuinely useful in day-to-day operations. This latest edition, DAPA®2.0, focuses in particular on SmartDB®. Through Semantic DX — equipping business data with meaning, context, and permissions — it charts a path for evolving SmartDB® into an "AI-Ready Data Generation Platform."
With DAPA®2.0, DreamArts aims to capture a "third corner" of durable competitive advantage. Building on the two strengths it has cultivated over 20 years — mission-critical business data and a user-master / access-management ledger — DreamArts will continuously generate, through everyday work, the business data that AI and AI agents can use safely and practically: "AI-Ready Data."
In parallel, DreamArts will begin phased implementation of the core technologies that underpin this platform — vectorization and semantic technology (vectorization targeted for within fiscal year 2026, and semantic technology for the first half of fiscal year 2027).
Key points
- DreamArts announces DAPA®2.0, a vision for evolving SmartDB® from a System of Record (SoR) into a System of Decision Intelligence (SoDI) that supports organizational decision-making.
- At its core are Semantic DX — equipping business data with meaning, context, and permissions — and its output, "AI-Ready Data."
- This is not merely a concept: phased implementation of the core technologies (vectorization and semantic technology) will begin, with the first steps slated to launch within the coming year.
Background: The Next Barrier to AI Is "Meaning" and "Context"
Many enterprises have adopted AI, yet often report that "we deployed it, but it isn't usable in our work." The difference lies not in the relative merits of AI models, but in the quality of the business data fed to them. Context for why a decision was reached is missing; context is not connected across departments and systems; and organization-specific business vocabulary — terms such as ringi (internal approval requests), routing, and approval authority — carries meaning that general-purpose AI does not grasp. These gaps are what separate success from failure.
"Having data" and "understanding what it means" are fundamentally different. As the next stage beyond the digitization, visualization, accumulation, and integration that conventional DX has pursued, DreamArts proposes a stage that addresses what the data means — namely, Semantic DX.
DAPA®2.0: Evolving SmartDB® into an "AI-Ready Data Generation Platform" — the "Third Corner"
For 20 years since SmartDB®'s launch, DreamArts has built durable competitive advantage by asking, in the spirit of the board game Reversi, "where are the corners?"
- Corner 1 "Data" — becoming the core platform that stores mission-critical enterprise data.
- Corner 2 "User Master / Access-Management Ledger" — handling the complex organizational and permission structures unique to large Japanese enterprises, spanning not only internal hierarchies but also group companies, affiliates, and external partner personnel.
These two corners have underpinned long-term use and company-wide rollout. Now, with the arrival of the AI-agent era, DreamArts adds Corner 3 "AI-Ready Data Generation Platform." As organizations run their work on SmartDB® day to day, meaning-rich business data that AI can use safely (AI-Ready Data) is generated continuously. This is a corner only DreamArts can take — a proprietary position that builds on Corner 1 (data) and Corner 2 (access management), and one that is difficult for others to replicate.
AI-Ready Data is not merely structured or digitized data. It is business data that satisfies six conditions — defined business meaning, position within the process, relationships, permissions, decision rationale, and an AI-processable format — and is thus ready for AI and AI agents to use safely and practically.
The "2+1" Technologies and the "Execution Path"
Semantic DX is realized through the convergence of three technologies:
- Semantic technology (ontology + Context Graph) — gives data "meaning" and "context." Ontology defines the templates of business concepts (the skeleton of meaning), while the Context Graph expresses how actual work, people, organizations, and history connect (the nervous system of context).
- Vectorization — converts large volumes of unstructured information (meeting minutes, comments, emails, and the like) into numerical representations that let AI handle semantic proximity. It is the foundational technology behind RAG and semantic search.
- Access control (the "+1") — controls "who can reference or operate on what, and in which business-process context." Refined by DreamArts over 20 years, it ensures safe AI use and governance.
These technologies depend on where SmartDB® stands. Whereas CRM and ERP record "results" or "current state," SmartDB® stands on the very path along which work actually progresses — the Execution Path — through steps such as ringi, applications, approvals, send-backs, and routing. As a result, at the very moment a decision is made, its inputs, the people involved, and its rationale (comments, attachments, related records) remain as structured records. These accumulated Decision Traces are stitched together across people, organizations, deals, contracts, documents, and approval histories, growing into the Context Graph.

From SoR to SoDI — and to a "Business Context Server"
The AI-Ready Data accumulated in SmartDB® becomes the foundation on which AI provides accurately contextualized support for decisions at every level — frontline, departmental, and executive (SoDI). DreamArts further aims to evolve SmartDB® into a "business context server" that supplies AI agents with business data, permission information, and process context. In the future, connection via standard protocols such as MCP (Model Context Protocol) is also envisioned. Alongside this, DreamArts presents the concept of an "AI Agent Ledger" — a foundation for managing the access rights, owner accountability, and usage logs of AI agents — extending governance across both people and AI.
DAPA®2.0 does not replace human decision-making. DreamArts consistently upholds "Human in the Loop" as a principle: AI supports and augments judgment, while final decisions and accountability rest with people.
Implementation: Not a Concept, but Already in Motion
DAPA®2.0 is not a distant vision; it is advancing as a concrete implementation plan. Among the technologies that support Semantic DX:
- Vectorization — first phase targeted to launch within fiscal year 2026.
- Semantic technology (ontology and Context Graph) — first phase targeted to launch in the first half of fiscal year 2027.
These represent a beginning, not a completion. Once the starting points are stood up, the work will be refined continuously together with the field. Though forward-looking, the first steps launch within the coming year — and therein lies the significance of this announcement.
Strategic Significance: A Durable, Compounding Advantage
Capturing the "third corner" represents a structural and difficult-to-replicate source of long-term competitive advantage. SmartDB®'s value compounds with use: the deeper it is embedded, the more proprietary business data, permission structures, and business vocabulary accumulate, widening a "context advantage" that other systems cannot easily reproduce. Because this asset is grown through daily operations rather than purchased, it strengthens over time and raises switching costs — turning continued use into a widening lead. In effect, "using SmartDB® today" becomes synonymous with "compounding competitiveness for the AI-agent era," supporting durable customer retention and expanding adoption across the enterprise.
The shift toward AI agents is a multi-year, structural transition for enterprises, and DAPA®2.0 positions SmartDB® at its center — re-casting a system of record as a platform for decision intelligence. This direction is consistent with DreamArts' strategy of "democratizing digital" and with the growth strategy set out in its Mid-term Management Plan 2026–2028 Notably, because meaning-rich data is grown from the everyday work of the field rather than through top-down, large-scale data programs, the model is capital-efficient and scalable — a distinctive approach to building enterprise competitiveness from the ground up.
CEO Comment
Takaaki Yamamoto, President and Representative Director
"The word 'AI' will eventually fade as a buzzword. But what fades is the word, not the essence of the technology beneath it. Our focus is not the immediate boom, but building a universal foundation that lets enterprises keep harnessing the super-technology of AI and digital in the field. Semantic DX, we believe, is the very arena on which large enterprises will compete on the world stage in the AI era."
